#97 DESIGNING THE STORE * (revised 6/2) daily delivery corridor

A second area for unloading and processing on the site is #H. We have designed this area for routine deliveries of product; weekly shipments of small box inventory, fragile items that need special care, and daily UPS deliveries to the store. (those UPS drivers will block up everything if you let them) This area is also intended for all deliveries of flowers and bedding plants. The trucks enter the front parking area and proceed straight to an automatic gate #P which opens to a corridor and leads out to exit #R, back onto the public street.

The area is recycled asphalt for the use of a pallet jack, smooth forklift operation, and the ease of moving roller carts. Processing of the products is done through a rollup door and into the bookend building #C, out of the weather. Product is moved into the customer display areas through #C, through the slider gates and into any of the houses and the nursery #E. Temporary storage and some seasonal storage of overflow fragile items (ceramic pots) are located running the length of the corridor on one side of the drive through area. There is wall lighting installed on the adjacent structures for night deliveries.

We want minimal disruption with deliveries. Both this area and the shrub processing area give us full delivery and processing capabilities that does not interfere with the flow of customer parking, shopping and purchasing.
