#99 DESIGNING THE STORE * (revised 6/2) front parking lot

The front parking area is an all year all weather area for the parking and temporary loading of vehicles. It has an all recycled asphalt surface. It is a small lot with only eleven stalls available. The curb stops are permanently positioned, rather than movable as in the other lots. It is permanently striped with large arrows for directing traffic entering the store and moving the vehicles to the other lots. All vehicles enter through two sets of double automatic chain link gates that slide and stack behind the front fences. The stalls, as in the other lots are wider and deeper than the conventional retail stall for easy loading of larger vehicles.

The entire area is quite wide as we anticipate tremendous pedestrian and vehicle traffic. It is also important that we have plenty of room to display plants and products in the front of the store building entrances. The majority of the handicapped parking stalls are located in this area. It is, like the main parking lot, lighted with large street lights, with electric outdoor outlets in strategic locations, and complete hand watering and automatic irrigation capability. We have installed a high pressure water outlet for "fire hosing" of the lot on a regular basis.
